Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo Brings Vegan Versatility to Foodservice

BLT burger with roasted garlic aioli made using Hellmann’s Vegan Mayonnaise.

Hellmann’s is giving Australian foodservice operators a practical way to serve more diners, with a plant-based mayonnaise developed to deliver the familiar taste, texture and performance of its original recipe.

Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo offers chefs a vegan-friendly alternative that can be used across both plant-based and traditional menu items.

Made in Australia from at least 95% Australian ingredients, the recipe combines 100% Australian canola oil with lemon juice and mustard flavour to create a rich, creamy mayonnaise with a balanced tanginess.

Made for Professional Kitchens

For chefs, choosing a plant-based product is only useful if it can perform under the pressure of a busy service.

Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo has been developed with the same authentic taste and smooth texture associated with Hellmann’s Real Mayo. Its exceptional hold helps it maintain consistency when used as a spread, dressing, sauce base or salad binder, including across takeaway and delivery menus.

The product is Vegan Australia certified, gluten-free and Halal certified. It also contains no artificial colours, artificial flavours or added MSG, making it a flexible option for venues serving customers with a range of dietary preferences.

Using a versatile plant-based mayonnaise across more of the menu may also help kitchens simplify preparation and stock management. Rather than preparing separate sauces for vegan and non-vegan dishes, chefs can begin with one consistent base and customise it to suit different applications.

One Product, Plenty of Applications

Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo can be used straight from the jar across burgers, sandwiches, rolls and wraps. It can also add creaminess to coleslaw, potato salad, grain bowls and vegetable-based salads.

For signature sauces, chefs can combine it with ingredients such as sriracha, miso, roasted garlic, herbs, mustard, pickles or citrus. It can be thinned into a dressing, used to bind a salad or transferred into a squeeze bottle for fast, controlled finishing during service.

This versatility makes it suitable for everything from a classic burger sauce to spicy mayo for fried cauliflower tacos, a herb dressing for roasted vegetables or an avocado mayo for bowls and sandwiches.

Importantly, the product is not limited to dishes labelled as vegan. Its familiar mayonnaise profile means it can also be used across meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes, helping operators make plant-based choices part of everyday menu development.

Foodservice-Friendly Formats

Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo is available in a 2.4kg jar, packed four jars per carton, as well as a larger 10kg format for higher-volume operations.

At a standard 20g serving, the 2.4kg jar provides approximately 120 serves, while the 10kg format provides approximately 500. This gives operators the flexibility to select a format suited to their menu volume, storage space and rate of use.

With a plant-based recipe, commercial kitchen performance and applications extending well beyond vegan dishes, Hellmann’s Plant Based Mayo gives Australian foodservice operators an easy way to add greater flexibility to their menus.
