Birch & Waite Expands Its Professional Kitchen Range With Chef-Ready Dips

Birch and Waite’s chef-ready Spicy Capsicum & Fetta and Tzatziki dips.

A prepared dip can save more than mixing time. Used well, it can give a kitchen a repeatable flavour base that works across several menu items, reduces prep pressure and helps maintain consistency between shifts.

Birch & Waite has expanded its professional kitchen offer with a fresh dip range that includes familiar flavours such as hommus, tzatziki, babaganoush and taramosalata. One of the newest additions is Spicy Capsicum & Fetta Dip, a Greek-style combination of fetta, Neufchatel cheese, red capsicum and chilli.

The product is supplied refrigerated in two 2.2kg units and has a stated shelf life of 60 days. Milk is listed as an allergen and the company reports that gluten was not detected in product testing. Operators should still follow the product label and their own allergen procedures when communicating with customers.

The main foodservice opportunity lies in using the dip as an ingredient rather than limiting it to a grazing board. Its creamy texture, capsicum sweetness and gentle heat could work beneath roasted vegetables, beside grilled lamb, through a warm grain bowl or as a sandwich and wrap spread. It could also provide the base for a quick sauce, loosened with lemon juice or olive oil according to the application.

That versatility can improve stock utilisation. A single prepared component that appears across breakfast, lunch and functions is often easier to manage than several low-volume sauces with separate ingredient lists and prep requirements. It may also support portion control when the kitchen sets a standard spoon, piping or squeeze-bottle measure for each dish.

The trade-off is that convenience must still earn its place on the menu. Chefs should compare the cost per serve with an in-house recipe, check how the flavour sits alongside existing dishes and plan realistic usage within the product’s refrigerated life. Texture should also be tested after service handling rather than judged only when the tub is first opened.

For venues looking to add a colourful, savoury component without creating another full prep job, the range offers a practical starting point. The strongest results will come from giving the dip a clear role in the dish, not treating it as an automatic side!
