New West Foods Expands WA Offering Through European Foods Acquisition

New West Foods has acquired European Foods, expanding its specialty food range across Western Australia.

Western Australian foodservice distributor New West Foods has acquired European Foods, expanding its portfolio of specialty ingredients and imported products for the state’s hospitality sector.

The acquisition brings together two established WA businesses with different but complementary product ranges. New West Foods supplies fresh seafood, cheese, dry goods, frozen and chilled products, along with packaging and cleaning supplies. European Foods has built its reputation around European-style foods, beverages and specialty ingredients.

Through the deal, New West Foods gains access to a wider selection of internationally recognised products, including Callebaut chocolate and specialty cheeses sourced from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The addition creates a broader purchasing option for WA restaurants, cafés, bakeries, hotels and caterers. Operators may be able to source more of their everyday supplies and premium ingredients through the same distribution relationship, potentially reducing the number of separate orders and deliveries required.

New West Foods began as a local seafood processor and distributor in 1988 before developing into a broad-range supplier to the WA foodservice market. The European Foods acquisition continues that shift, extending the business further into specialist dairy, chocolate and imported pantry categories.

European Foods also operates a marketplace in Osborne Park that serves professional chefs and the public. Its coffee operations are not included in the transaction and will remain under the ownership of the existing family.

New West Foods managing director Damon Venoutsos said the acquisition would allow the family-owned company to expand its offer while continuing the legacy established by European Foods.

For WA foodservice businesses, the deal reflects continuing consolidation within distribution as suppliers look to combine broad operational coverage with more specialised product ranges. The ability to access commodity lines, kitchen supplies and premium imported ingredients from fewer distributors can be particularly valuable for venues managing procurement time, freight costs and product consistency.
